Re: text (midnight feed)
10/21
His mouth opened, and for a moment before a desperate, gasping breath rattles his thumping chest, he felt like screaming into the white void and that it would be lost to that ever expansive whiteness or be shoved back down his throat, drowning him in his own agony-
Thump.
Thumpthump.
Thumpthumpthumpthumpthump.
He had to just breathe for a period of countless thumpthumps before he could do anything else, and a deep, almost drugged haze replaced the explosive panic that rattled his entire body.
Gau narrowed his eyes, trying to take in what he could as the room shook with every pound in his chest and down to his toes, but it did no good to tell him anything. With what little arm strength he could muster in this inexplicably shaking state, he patted around him, only to feel a bed beneath him and a fraction of an answer to the largest question at hand.
Why was he here?
Hospital beds, he realized when his vision cleared just enough to crane his neck and see a nonfunctional heart monitor next to the bed, were no strangers to him. It was not a new experience to wake up on one, but before, he was not a fraction as disoriented, his mind clear with focus and conviction and the simple jubilation of being alive to see the man across from him.
Where was Raikou?
Why should he be worried about that?
Why was he?
Maybe five, maybe fifteen pass as Gau lies in bed, in this haze. He wants to close his eyes again- maybe, just maybe, a bad fever landed him here, and what good would staying awake do to solve that- but the loud, quick chime of his phone snaps them open once more.
It takes him uncountable seconds to realize that his phone was on the small bedside table next to him, and with a weak arm, he manages to gently lift it off.
"Yo."
Badou-san. Even when his brain was five seconds behind time itself, he should have expected that.
He begins to type >Hello, Badou-san. I don't know where I am. Do you know anything about this?, and then more messages start pouring in, forcing the screen away from the text he was writing.
They're messages that don't make sense in his pounding poundingpounding head, why would Badou text him so frantically if the last time he just saw Badou was...
Was.
Was.
When was it?
...
When did he see Badou last? Or Raikou?
...
List?
...
When did his head hit the pillow last?
...
When did he last sleep?
...
..
.
He holds onto the phone like a lifeline into a world he isn't sure is the same as the last time he shut his eyes.]
